IBM To Ship Express Versions Of WebSphere Commerce, WebSphere MQ

Both WebSphere Commerce Express and WebSphere MQ Express will be designed for easier installation and deployment, the Armonk, N.Y.-based company said.

WebSphere Commerce Express will include DB2 and WebSphere Application Server, IBM said. The application will enable the creation of online catalogs, inventory and order management and marketing tools. Entry pricing for WebSphere Commerce express will be $20,000, including a processor license and a copy of WebSphere Commerce-Express Developer Edition. It will be available Sept. 30, and some business partners will qualify for an "early enablement program" that begins next month, IBM said.

Last fall, CRN broke the news of IBM's planned mid-market push, aimed directly at Microsoft, and that it would be spearheaded by "Express" offerings. (See story)

WebSphere MQ Express, which will be available in the fourth quarter, will start at $4,180, the vendor said.
