Managed Objects Inks CSC Deal

The deal, which is to be disclosed Tuesday, calls for CSC to use Managed Objects' Formula software as part of its Global Infrastructure Service. Formula is a business service management tool that collects information about a company's IT assets and helps managers map that information to business application needs. The software consolidates information from network and systems management tools, databases and internally developed applications.

Joe Schechter, vice president of the technology management group at CSC, said Formula is one component of the integrator's offering that helps businesses correlate the performance of different IT assets to certain business operations. It will use the software to help manage service levels around certain applications. "The thought was, 'How do you provide end-to-end availability in a more traditional outsourcing environment?' " Schechter said.

In particular, the software helps companies keep tabs on repetitive processes that occur on a daily basis, Schechter said. "These need to be managed, and it's highly dependent on not only your technology but gateways into other technology," he said.

The relationship with Managed Objects, McLean, Va., calls for CSC, El Segundo, Calif., to resell Formula along with its customized service, Schechter said.

Managed Objects CEO Siki Giunta said the company has been working for some time with CSC, and the deal represents a formalization of that relationship.

However, she has hired a new vice president of channel sales, Lou Migliorini, to recruit additional partners, especially systems integrators.

In particular, Giunta said Managed Objects is seeking solution providers that will help build on its growing traction in local and state governments and will help it penetrate specific regional markets west of the Mississippi.
