JBoss Adds Iona To Growing Partner List

Iona, a Dublin, Ireland-based integration software vendor with U.S. headquarters in Waltham, Mass., will offer consulting, training and support for the JBoss application server as an authorized service partner for JBoss, according to the companies.

Support offerings can be bundled with Iona's current support agreements for its Orbix and Artix families of integration products or on a stand-alone basis for JBoss customers, according to Iona. Iona also will team with the JBoss Group's own support services for more complete coverage for customers.

The JBoss Group, Atlanta, only recently formed an official partner program. Last month, the company unveiled the JBoss Authorized Service Provider program to allow partners to make money reselling JBoss Group support and services to customers.

In addition to Iona, JBoss counts WebMethods, Borland Software, Compuware and Oak Grove Systems among its partners.

There have been more than 4 million downloads of the JBoss app server, a favorite of developers because of the flexibility open-source software provides.

The JBoss Group is in the final stages of a J2EE licensing agreement with Sun Microsystems to become fully compliant with the Java standard for developing enterprise applications. The move will give JBoss a credibility boost as infrastructure for running large-scale enteprise applications, company executives have said.
