Those obsolete PCs lying around your company may actually be useful as something other than boat anchors.
Neoware hopes to convince IT administrators that its new ThinPC software, introduced Monday, can turn aging computers into modern thin clients for accessing server-based applications. The software is designed to help companies leverage their PC desktops to into managed thin clients without having to upgrade the hardware.
The ThinPC client software is centrally managed by Neoware's ezRemote Manager, a server-based application that lets IT manage, upgrade and secure multiple desktops. Using the pair together, companies can provide standard desktop PCs with access to Windows and Linux server-based apps.
ThinPC and ezRemote Manager are priced at $133 per user, with an introductory price of $99 good through the end of July.
