Manufacturing Snag To Cause Slight MBS 2003 R2 Delay

Microsoft Small Business Server R 2

"We discovered an issue in the manufacturing process and are recalling the outstanding editions and reissuing them," said Steven van Roekel, director of Windows Server Solutions. "In that build process, someone mistakenly grabbed some of the older core components which were included."

He said the impact is minimal because none of the code is in customer hands yet, but partners who got the early builds will get the correct bits soon.

"ITts not a big impact. There are 3,000 units in the market but most are paper licenses." van Roekel said.

Microsoft had said SBS 2003 R 2 would be generally available in August, depending on partner ramp time. Now it expects the code will flow through partners to users in four to six weeks.
