Symantec Closes Altiris Acquisition

Symantec on Monday said it has finalized its acquisition of network client management vendor Altiris. <P> The <a href="http://www.crn.com/security/197001192">$830 million deal</a> was announced in late January. <P> Lindon, Utah-based Altiris makes software that allows businesses to manage and service network-based endpoints, ranging from mobile devices, laptops and desktop PCs to servers and storage. <P> Altiris' technology brings Cupertino, Calif.-based Symantec the tools to expand into a broad, IT network management vendor, with products that address security plus storage, client management and remote managed services.
