IBM will give it's Information On Demand initiative a boost this week when it debuts a slew of enhancements to its InfoSphere software portfolio and enterprise content management applications at the company's Information On Demand Conference in Las Vegas.
Information On Demand, launched in early 2006, is IBM's effort to link its business intelligence, database, content management and InfoSphere products under a single strategy. InfoSphere includes IBM's data integration, data warehousing and master data management middleware products.
Earlier this month IBM, reporting its third-quarter earnings, said sales of its information management software increased 26 percent year-over-year during the quarter.
IBM will unveil new capabilities within the InfoSphere Master Data Management Server that provide pre-defined data integration and cleansing logic that makes it easier for businesses to combine data from multiple heterogeneous systems into a single view. The company will also debut a new release of InfoSphere Information Server that extends the product's DataStage module to make it easier to integrate and sort through huge volumes of information stored in databases.
The company also will announce that the InfoSphere portfolio is now more closely aligned with Cognos 8 business intelligence software from Cognos, the company IBM acquired in January. The Cognos 8 Business Viewpoint business performance management tool, for example, can now be used with InfoSphere MDM Server to align performance management analysis with operational master data. And the new InfoSphere Warehouse 9.5 release is more tightly linked to Cognos 8 BI.
And IBM is expected to announce a series of enhancements to its Agile ECM software portfolio, including FileNet P8 4.5 with improved content management and business process management capabilities.
