Mark Ouellette, vice president of worldwide business partner sales in IBM's software group, will retire next month after 32 years with the company, an IBM spokeswoman confirmed Monday.
Sandy Carter, currently vice president of SOA and WebSphere marketing, strategy and channels, will take over Ouellette's post effective May 15, the spokeswoman said.
Ouellette has held his current job for just over a year. Between July 2005 and April 2008 he was vice president for IBM's global sales operations for all brands and geographies. Earlier positions he's held at IBM included vice president of worldwide small and midsize business software sales.
Carter, a 20-year-veteran at IBM, is known as an expert in SOA and BPM technology and "marketing 2.0" strategies.
She holds an undergraduate degree in computer science and math from Duke University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She has also authored two books: "The New Language of Marketing 2.0: How to Use Angels to Energize Your Market," and "The New Language of Business: SOA and Web 2.0."
