The two companies unveiled the new management tools at CA World, held this week in Las Vegas. CA Technologies is the new name for CA Inc., which in turn was previously known as Computer Associates.

Cisco’s UCS combines networking, blade servers and storage in a single architecture.

The updates to CA’s management tools make it easier to help customers build a virtualized data center and adopt some form of cloud computing, CA said this week.

CA has enhanced its existing management tools with support for Cisco’s XML APIs, which give customers access to UCS through the UCS management software, said Karen Sage, vice president of alliances and marketing at CA Technologies.

The updated offerings include CA Spectrum Automation Manager, a policy-based server provisioning and automation tool; CA eHealth Performance Manager, which monitors device health across an organization’s entire infrastructure and CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager for handling fault isolation and network configuration management.

With the addition of Cisco UCS support, the management tools provide a seamless approach to let customers perform needed tasks, no matter which vendors’ servers are on the network, Sage said.

“We provide a one-touch interface,” she said. “It lets customers take a a holistic look at policies instead of just the networking infrastructure.”

The management tools with Cisco UCS support are expected to be gradually released between June and the Fall of 2010, Sage said.
