Data integration software vendor Informatica Thursday debuted an iOS-based application that runs on Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch devices for remotely monitoring and administering cloud integration jobs.

The new software, dubbed Informatica Cloud administration application for iPhone, links to all editions of the vendor's cloud administration system, including Informatica Cloud Basic, Standard, Enterprise and Express. The company demonstrated the new product this week at the Salesforce.com Dreamforce conference.

Informatica cited statistics from the 451 Group market research firm that 21.3 percent of U.S. companies are now using mobile device-based IT support tools on smartphones and tablet computers.

"Informatica is delivering a natural extension to the Informatica Cloud," said Ron Papas, general manager, Informatica Cloud, in a statement. "Customers are asking for mobile applications with intuitive self-service capabilities for managing and controlling cloud data integration tasks wherever and whenever it is convenient."

The mobile application offers a subset of the capabilities of the Informatica Cloud service. Using the mobile Informatica Cloud administration application, administrators can check the status of data integration tasks, monitor Informatica Cloud system usage, schedule and troubleshoot data integration jobs, receive alerts, and access Informatica support.

Last week Informatica said its Informatica Cloud integration service is now performing 3 million cloud integration jobs and processing 20 billion cloud data transactions every month.

The Informatica Cloud administration mobile application is free for customers who subscribe to the Informatica Cloud integration service. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and is available from the online Informatica Marketplace.

Informatica plans to develop the mobile application for other mobile devices, including those based on Google Android.
