Oracle Completes Taleo Acquisition, Extends HCM Cloud Application Offerings

Oracle disclosed the deal to acquire Taleo on February 9. Taleo's applications are used by businesses and organizations manage employee recruiting, performance management, training and compensation. The company has 5,000 customers using its software.

The company plans to offer Taleo's applications through the Oracle Public Cloud service and integrate them with Oracle's own Fusion Human Capital Management software. But Oracle also intends to continue offering the Taleo applications as individual modules, company executives have said.

The company has scheduled a Web presentation for April 26 where president Mark Hurd and other Oracle execs will provide more details on the company's HR software strategy.

Oracle's Taleo acquisition is widely seen as a competitive response to SAP's $3.4 billion acquisition of SuccessFactors, a developer of cloud-based applications for managing employee recruitment, training, performance tracking and compensation management. SAP completed that acquisition in late February.
