Oracle has filed a lawsuit alleging that longtime services partner CedarCrestone was stealing Oracle software for use in its services offerings.
In the lawsuit, which was first reported by Computerworld, Oracle alleged that Alpharetta, Ga.-based CedarCrestone provided unauthorized updates to Oracle applications, and that it downloaded Oracle support materials illegally using its partner login credentials.
As a result, Oracle is suing CedarCrestone for copyright infringement, breach of contract and unfair competition and is seeking unspecified damages, Computerworld reported.

Oracle is a key technology partner for CedarCrestone. Of the six solution categories that make up CedarCrestone's services portfolio, four are centered on Oracle solutions including Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Oracle Business Intelligence Analytics (OBIA), Oracle Fusion Middleware, Oracle Fusion Human Capital Management (HCM) and PeopleSoft.
The lawsuit, filed Sept. 5, is similar to an Oracle lawsuit against SAP. In that lawsuit, SAP admitted that TomorrowNow, a subsidiary it acquired in 2005, downloaded copyrighted software and documents from Oracle support websites. The two are currently in dispute over the final amount of damages SAP will pay to Oracle.
Oracle also currently has an active lawsuit against Las Vegas-based Rimini Street with similar allegations.
Neither CedarCrestone nor Oracle responded to requests for more information by press time.
