As it encourages more partners to sell combined hardware-software solutions, Oracle is hoping its services opportunities will help set the company apart from the competition.

"We don't compete with our partners on services," said Lydia Smyers, group vice president of Oracle Worldwide Alliances and Channels. "Unlike so many other vendors who have purchased consulting companies, Oracle has assured that our professional services are done by our partner community."

In an interview with CRN TV, Smyers discussed Oracle's online training resources for software, hardware and services specializations as incentives for partners to expand their Oracle offerings and also talked about the promise of Oracle's engineered systems products like Exadata and Exalogic.

"Engineered systems is a transformational solution," she said, "and it's just getting going."
