According to SAP, Mark Ferrer, COO of SAP Global Customer Operations, will assume Duffaut's duties and oversee the company's global ecosystem and channel operations. SAP is currently shifting its channel strategy to focus on cloud growth around HANA and enterprise applications and recruit new SAP partners that can make capital investments in those areas.

Duffaut was scheduled to speak at SAP's Partner Leadership Summit in Hollywood, Fla., in late July but was unable to attend the event because of an accident, according to SAP, which is not related to his departure from the company.

Before joining SAP, Duffaut spent 15 years at Oracle, most recently serving as vice president of channel sales at the software company. He joined SAP in 2005 as senior vice president of small & midsize enterprises (SME) and channels in the EMEA region. He was later promoted to executive vice president and general manager of global SME and indirect channels before being named as president of SAP's Global Ecosystem & Channels in early 2011.
