Former HP PC Boss Bradley Takes Job At BI Software Vendor

Todd Bradley, who headed up Hewlett-Packard's PC business for eight years, putting in place a strategy that moved HP from No. 2 in the PC market to No. 1, has taken a job as president of $1.1 billion business intelligence software maker TIBCO Software.

Bradley, a fierce channel advocate who led HP's small medium business partner advisory council for seven years, was hailed by partners for his channel commitment and for making significant supply chain improvements that made HP more competitive in the PC business.

The new job for Bradley comes one year after he left his role as executive vice president of HP's $60 billion Printing & Personal Systems business to take a position as executive vice president of strategic growth initiatives for HP.

"I am going to reach out to him to see what kind of opportunity there may be for us to partner with TIBCO," said Majdi "Mike" Daher, CEO of Denali Advanced Integration, Redmond, Wash., No. 91 on CRN's Solution Provider 500 list. "Todd is one of those executives that I completely trust. I believe in him. He is a big believer in the power of the channel and partners."

Daher said he expects Bradley to drive significant sales growth at Palo Alto, Calif.-based TIBCO, with a focus on scaling the business and driving tighter ties with channel players like Denali. "Big data is really breaking out right now," said Daher. "He is going to solidify that business for TIBCO. Todd knows what it takes to scale and grow a business and be successful. I anticipate that he will reach out to a lot of partners to see how we can work together to help TIBCO achieve its goals."

Sam Haffar, the CEO of Houston-based Computex Technology Solutions, one of the top national solution providers at No. 123 on the 2014 CRN SP500, said he has already made a decision to add TIBCO's business intelligence/big data solutions to the Computex portfolio now that Bradley is president of the company.

"We are going to get into middleware [software] with TIBCO very soon," he said. "Todd is a channel advocate, and I'm sure he will create a helluva channel program that makes sense and will attract partners. We have a lot of respect for Todd and all he accomplished at HP, and look forward to what he does for the channel at TIBCO."

Rick Chernick, CEO of Camera Corner Connecting Point of Green Bay, Wis., No. 291 on the CRN SP500, said he sees the TIBCO opportunity as a good fit for Bradley. "He is my friend and I respect him," said Chernick. "I think he did a tremendous job for HP. He was a solution provider champion. He understands what we do, what we stand for, how hard we work and the power of the channel. Who knows what will happen? We may become a TIBCO partner."

In his role as president of TIBCO, Bradley will have global responsibility for sales marketing and professional services. He will report to TIBCO Founder, Chairman and CEO Vivek Ranadivé.

"I am joining TIBCO because I believe in the enormous role TIBCO will play as a leader in Big Data and because of Vivek Ranadivé," said Bradley in a prepared statement. "Vivek is one of the great pioneers of the technology industry, seeing the Big Data opportunity a decade before the term 'Big Data' existed. I believe TIBCO is one of the largest opportunities in technology."
