Exaptive Develops Platform To Simplify Building Data-Driven Apps

There is no doubt that utilizing data is valuable, but it can be a complex challenge. Cambridge, Mass.-based Exaptive has developed a data science platform to easily make sense of aggregated data, as well as share and collaborate on data.

’The data science market is exploding, but the problem is it’s exploding into a million pieces and these pieces are often highly specialized and siloed,’ said Exaptive Chief Operating Officer Clive Higgins.

With Exaptive’s data science platform, software engineers and data scientists can rapidly build HTML5 browser-based applications. Exaptive’s platform is modular-based, meaning modules -- or building blocks for apps -- can be created to collect data of any type from any source. The collected data is then run through any algorithm, like Python or Hadoop.

’You pull all of these little Lego blocks together into applications that we call Xaps, and then you can publish those as HTML pages or to your mobile device,’ Higgins said.

Exaptive is now developing an entire ’Xap Store,’ which will serve as an ’app store for data scientists.’

The company is on the hunt for new partners. Service provider Zifo Technologies represents one successful Exaptive partner that has used the software for bio-pharma customers.
