Former CompuCom CEO Edward Coleman Joins Arrow

Former CompuCom Systems CEO Edward Coleman, who departed the solution provider shortly after its was acquired by investment firm Platinum Equity last year, has returned to the channel as senior vice president and president of Arrow's North American Computer Products (NACP) business.

Coleman, 53, served as CEO of CompuCom from 1999 to 2004. During that time, he oversaw the solution provider's growth, which reached $1.4 billion, as well as the company's transition from a product sales focus to more of an IT services player. Coleman, who previously spent many years at IBM and Computer Sciences Corp., received the VARBusiness 500 Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 for his accomplishments in the IT industry spanning three decades. After Platinum Equity purchased CompuCom last year for $254 million, Coleman guided the solution provider from a public company to a privately held firm. Shortly after the acquisition was completed last fall, Coleman left CompuCom to pursue other endeavors.

On Tuesday, Arrow announced that Coleman had joined Arrow and would succeed Mike Long, now president of Arrow North America, as head of Arrow's NACP division, which is the company's enterprise distribution business. Long was promoted last May after helming NACP since 1998. According to an Arrow spokesperson, Coleman officially began his new role this week and will work closely with Long as he transitions into his position as head of NACP. Coleman will report to William Mitchell, president and CEO of Arrow. Long, meanwhile, will continue to oversee Arrow's North American Components (NAC) division as well as other strategic and operational activities, according to the company.

"We are delighted to welcome a highly seasoned and experienced business leader like Ed Coleman to Arrow's executive management team," Mitchell said in a prepared statement. "His addition to Arrow will enable us to further accelerate our progress in the execution of our strategies and in moving to new levels of operational excellence."
