Seelinger To Step Down

Symantec is expected to name Julie Parrish as vice president of Worldwide Channels, following the decision by the company's current channel chief Allyson Seelinger to step down.
Seelinger, a former VARBusiness Channel Executive of the Year, is leaving the company in two weeks to spend more time with her family. Having spent more than 18 years at the company, she is one of the industry's most accomplished channel executives in the industry and responsible for numerous programs and initiatives that include partner satisfaction at Symantec.
Her decision to leave the company comes after great introspection.
"It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but also one of the most [sensible], given the age of my son," Seelinger says.
Seelinger's current boss, Tom Kendra, executive vice president of Worldwide Sales and Services, says replacing Seelinger would be next to impossible if not for Parrish. Parrish came to the company via the acquisition of Veritas, where she oversaw channel-related marketing activities.
"We're so fortunate to have Julie who can step in the Worldwide role to complement our channel theater heads. But as you can imagine, we're sorry to see Allyson leave full time. Kendra, however, hopes that he can secure the services of Seelinger on a consulting basis.
Parrish has extensive channel experience, having served both Veritas and 3Com prior to her current job as head of channels marketing with Symantec.
