HP To Unveil HD TVs, Media Center PCs At CES

The Palo Alto, Calif.-based computer maker said the leader of its new pack of home entertainment products includes a 37-inch, HP Advanced Digital Media LCD TV--a TV that includes PC integration. The company said the device will be part of its 2006 lineup.

HP did not immediately say when the product would be available, or how it would be priced.

The LCD TV can be integrated with Real Networks Rhapsody music service, or online film services including CinemaNow and MovieLink, an HP spokesperson said.

The company also announced it would have a series of four new consumer notebooks, including the HP Pavilion dv1000 Series Entertainment Notebook PC and dv8000 Series Notebook PC. The company said the notebooks provide convergence between mobile computing and digital entertainment. The HP dv8000 Series, another consumer notebook, is available with Microsoft XP Media Center Edition. Pricing for the notebooks was not immediately available.

HP has been less aggressive than some of its PC industry rivals, including Dell, in jumping into the LCD TV space.

The series of announcements also represents the most aggressive move HP has made, to date, in converging its traditional PC technologies with the digital home model.
