Arrow Hires Two HP Execs

Ed Burke, director of marketing for enterprise servers and storage at HP&'s Technology Solutions Group for the Americas, is expected to join Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) in late January as director of marketing for the HP business. In addition, Judy Lynch has joined Arrow ECS as a business development manager. Previously, she was enterprise/commercial segment manager for HP&'s Solutions Partner Organization.

“Ed and Judy strengthen our ability to deliver more value to our customers. We&'re in a much better position to have those conduits back to HP on behalf of our partners,” said Michael Haley, vice president of SBM, the HP-focused division within Arrow&'s ECS group.

Lynch will be a partner advocate for Arrow, Haley said, ensuring that solution providers are linked with appropriate contacts at HP. In addition, she will oversee an expansive recruitment program for new partners, he said. Meanwhile, Burke will develop programs to help solution providers sell more HP services, storage and software, Haley said.

“We are pushing [partners] to continue to make investments to grow their business within the blades area, around OpenView and services programs,” he said. “We think Ed can help create a more strategic vision for our organization to help our partners continue to grow their HP business.”

Burke&'s HP experience should help SBM, which was stung by the loss of its top partner, a $200 million customer, late last year when Logicalis, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., moved its HP business to Avnet Partner Solutions in return for Avnet&'s HP end-user integration business, said David Butler, president and CEO of Enterprise Computing Solutions, a Mission Viejo, Calif.-based solution provider.

Burke was a major reason why the solution provider transitioned all of its storage business to HP from about one-third of that business, Butler said. For example, Burke developed programs that rewarded solution providers for increasing their training and certification investments in HP, Butler said.
