New Year, New GovernmentVAR

It's a new year, and as we all make resolutions for healthier pursuits or kicking unhealthy habits, it's also a time for change here at GovernmentVAR. Make that big changes. For starters, we're ramping up the magazine and GovernmentVARmag.com with additional and improved government business intelligence. How? Well, you've asked for more, so we now plan to publish 12 monthly issues of GovernmentVAR, packed with more exciting and insightful content. More specifically, we've divided the public-sector coverage into four key areas: federal government, state and local government, education and health care. We will provide you with in-depth features that will focus on the strategic and technology intelligence you need to sell into the public sector. We've also added G-Tech, a new section where we'll highlight the products and technology geared specifically to the public-sector channel.

Your opinions are important to us--and your peers--so we've also created a reader column, where you'll have a chance to expound your views, insight and experience to the rest of the public-sector channel. Check out the first such column by Adam Robinson, CEO of Govplace, on page 20. In addition, we've expanded our In Brief page to include an industry "Movers & Shakers" column that tracks the changes in the executive ranks of vendors and solution providers.

We've also expanded our exclusive GovernmentVAR research, providing you with more data and better market resources. We'll start off with our annual Partner Programs Guide in March, followed by the State of the Government Market in April, the GovernmentVAR 100 in May and more throughout the year.

Of course, no package would be complete without the Internet, and we're investing heavily in our online content. We've expanded GovernmentVARmag.com with more information, which will keep you coming back for more. What's more, the site has a new look and feel, along with additional resources, such as "The Ultimate Guide to the GSA Schedule" and "Code Breaking: Government Acronyms From A-to-Z." Of course, you'll still find all the news and analysis you've come to expect on GovernmentVARmag.com.

Next, GovCasts, our own version of a podcast, will soon launch on GovernmentVARmag.com. You'll be able to download interviews, story overviews and other content directly to your computer or MP3 player and listen whenever you choose. This month, be sure to tune into our GovCast to hear more from GovernmentVAR senior editor Jill R. Aitoro's interview with our cover subject, Newt Gingrich; hear what he has to say about how technology is necessary to revolutionize government today.

Stay tuned for a year of bigger and better GovernmentVAR coverage and, as always, feel free to drop me an e-mail to let me know what you like or what you'd like to see done differently in print and online.

Cheers!
