Cupertino-based security vendor Symantec today expanded its regional and global partner advisory councils to include Latin America. Symantec hopes to bring select enterprise security and availability partners from around the world together with these councils so partners, along with management from Symantec, can discuss the company's vision, products, sales strategies and partner program.

Symantec developed regional partner advisory councils for North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific in 2003 and established the global partner advisory council in 2004. The expansion of Symantec’s regional and global councils are part of its continued efforts to build a common framework among channel partners.

The advisory councils are focused on strengthening relationships between the company and its enterprise partners. They also plan to establish an interactive vehicle to shape go-to-market strategies and build an effective, influential forum for strategic communication between Symantec and its partners from all over the world. "As a channel-oriented company, Symantec places a high priority on partner feedback,” said Julie Parrish, vice president of Symantec's global channel sales in a release.

The global partner advisory council and regional advisory council include more than 20 partners, representing key industry segments and the geographic regions that Symantec does business in. The councils hold annual meetings to provide input on Symantec strategy as well as meet quarterly through conference calls to discuss product and operational issues.

Members of the Symantec global partner advisory council include 3S Soft, Applied Computer Solutions, Bell Micro, Brasoftware Informatica, Cientec Computacion, CompuCom Systems, Computacenter, DLT Solutions, En Pointe Technologies, Grupo Theos, Jainam Technologies, NexInnovations, Nissho Electronics Corp., OSIATIS, Systems Management Planning Inc., Siemens Business Services, Strategic Technologies, Systex Corporation, Technical Associates, Uniskill, and Volante Systems. Members of the North American Symantec Regional Partner Advisory Council include Adexis, Applied Computer Solutions, Apptis, Bayshore Technologies, Carolina Advanced Digital, CBE/Firetower, CHIPS Computer Consulting, CompuCom Systems, Continental Resources, Inc., Creative Breakthroughs, Inc., DLT Solutions, Inc., Emagined Security, En Pointe Technologies, FlexITy™ Solutions, Inc., FusionStorm, Galaxy Data, Inc., Govplace, Intelligent Systems and Networking, Peters and Associates, and Venture Technologies.
