CA plans to make all of its Protection Suite security software available through open distribution starting April 1.
The CA Desktop Protection Suite, Server Protection Suite and Business Protection Suite products will be available to solution providers via Ingram Micro, Tech Data, Synnex and D&H Distributing, said George Kafkarkou, senior vice president of SMB and consumer channel sales at CA. The Islandia, N.Y.-based software vendor is scheduled to announce the move in a Webcast on Thursday.
Launched in July, the three Protection Suites have only been available through online venues such as CDW and CA's online store.
"We believe this move will help get the Protection Suites more visibility," Kafkarkou said.
CA’s Protection Suites bundle antivirus, antispyware and system restoration applications in one security software package. The offerings include the CA Desktop Protection Suite for PCs and laptops, CA Server Protection Suite for servers, and CA Business Protection Suite for both servers and desktops.
CA also offers Business Protection Suite products for Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) Standard Edition and Premium Edition. The SBS flavors of the suites have been in open distribution since the products were launched.
