Fujitsu Redefines Desktop Scanning
In our recent report on standalone scanners, we highlighted the benefits of the latest offerings for the desktop and workgroup. Fujitsu's new ScanSnap S500 stood out among several for its speed, compact form factor and simplicity. New sensors designed to reduce paper jams can detect various document sizes, and the scanner can automatically generate searchable PDF files or Microsoft Word documents. Also, the device comes with ABBYY USA's FineReader OCR software. It scans 18 pages per minute in single-side mode and 36 images per minute in double-side mode. The document feeder holds 50 pages at a time. This scanner is simple to operate, fits on any desktop and is affordable for businesses of any size.
