Herndon, Va.-based EDS announced a $308 million contract win with Florida to design develop and implement a Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) to more than 65,000 providers and 2.2 million recipients.
With the fourth-largest Medicaid program in the country, Florida wants to improve its process for providing services and implementing state-wide health-care reform. Under the contract, which spans almost seven years for implementation and operations, EDS will develop a system that provides customized fiscal agent services -- from claims processing to file maintenance -- and Web-based capabilities for data access and exchange.
While EDS will move forward with the contract, two other bidders that unsuccessfully protested the win are appealing the decision to the Florida state court.
