The Internet and its related technologies are expected to change the way documents are printed, making it easier for users to print all or elements of a document.
To take advantage of these changes in how documents are printed, Xerox Corp.'s entire line of printers already are Internet-enabled, said Rick Thoman, president and chief executive of Xerox, speaking at the Lyra Imaging Symposium here last week.
Xerox this month created a division to explore Internet technologies such as the ability to put documents on the Internet for printing and publishing anywhere, the management of intellectual property, and the ability to print documents from handheld devices.
As part of the company's reorganization last year, Xerox has placed more emphasis on the indirect channel, Thoman said. Xerox expects its U.S. and European reseller and dealer channels to account for about one-third of the company's revenue in 2000, due in part to its acquisition of Tektronix Inc. last year, he said.
