<P> As part of its nonstop e-business strategy, Compaq Computer Corp., based here, announced that its NonStop Himalaya servers will now support Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). The addition of Java support is intended to better position the Himalaya platform for large-scale, Internet-driven e-business applications. In conjunction, the system-maker unveiled a new family of S74 Himalayas. <P> Pauline Nist, vice president and general manager of Compaq's Tandem business unit, said in a statement that Himalaya servers have proven the value of continuous availability and scalability for years. "Now, a high-speed Internet-driven market is placing an even greater value on those twin attributes, and a much broader group of customers is looking to Himalaya servers to support solutions that can stay up continuously, and can grow quickly and massively." <P> The new S74 series answers e-businesses' need for increased speed. The new S74000 server offers a new microprocessor, which is estimated to run 30 percent faster than the previous S72000, yet remains the same price as its predecessor. The S74 series also includes a midrange S7400 and two entry-level systems, the S740 and the S74.
