Online fraud is crippling the future for e-business. That's the perceptions of business and IT managers expressed in "Online Fraud--Perceptions From the E-business Frontier," a survey conducted by Mindwave Research Inc. for CyberSource Corp. <P> Three-quarters of the e-merchants surveyed consider fraud a problem and the majority who were polled expect the problem to worsen before it gets better. <P> The survey's findings are based on interviews conducted with managers of emerging e-business brands and retail merchants ranging from Compaq Computer Corp., Samsung, Imperial Bank and Abercombie & Fitch to MotherNature,com, PlanetOutdoors.com and Beyond.com. CyberSource makes Internet Fraud Screen, a sophisticated fraud tool for e-commerce in use on such sites as Amazon.com, Beyond.com, Buy.com, Casio, Compaq, Egghead.com, Nike.com, Remedy, Rx.com and Shopping.com <P> Among those polled, 52 percent expect their online revenue to increase this year. But even more, 74 percent, said they believed that online fraud will increase as well--in the form of stolen credit cards and stolen identities. Seventy-two percent said they believe online sales would increase if online shoppers were not concerned about fraud. <P> CyberSource, based in San Jose, recently announced the release of V. 4.0 of its Internet Fraud. Screen which features tools to allow e-commerce managers to make more rapid and informed risk management decisions.
