General merchandiser and retailer Target has selected e-commerce provider Workscape to implement and manage multiple human resource functions on the Web.
Under the agreement, Workscape will craft and implement a software solution that connects 281,000 employees at more than 1,300 locations across the nation. The solution also is designed to streamline HR activities.
Employees at Target, Mervyn's and Marshall Field department stores will gain secure access to human resources information and services, officials say.
The first phase of the implementation, which is already occurring, involves a series of employee self-service and workforce management initiatives that will integrate with an existing HR system.
The second phase will center on applications, such as compensation planning and workforce events for company managers.
Workscape is providing an integrated suite of applications that automates and manages the workflow of various HR processes. In making the announcement, Workscape president Tim Clifford said the implementation would reduce administrative costs and provide expanded services to Target. However, neither the actual cost of the implementation nor the ROI were released.
Chris Portinga, senior manager of HR development for Target, says the solution will connect employees across offices and retail stores in 46 states.
Target operates 977 Target stores, 266 Mervyn's stores and 64 Marshall Field stores, as well target.direct, a direct-mail and online business.
