Web-site management start-up SiteSmith named Mark Spagnolo its new CEO Wednesday.
Spagnolo had been president and CEO of WorldCom's Uunet division until late June, when he stepped down to concentrate on "special projects," though still reporting to WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers. He was at EDS for 24 years before making the move to Uunet.
Spagnolo replaces Marv Tseu, who has been CEO of SiteSmith since its launch in October. SiteSmith executives said Tseu will continue to serve on the board of directors.
"We were very particular and went through a lot of candidates before we found Mark," Tseu said.
Santa Clara-based SiteSmith is courting e-business integrators such as San Francisco's Fort Point Partners to have a ready-made source of name-brand Web sites to operate, monitor and troubleshoot.
