ACS To Take Over IT Infrastructure Services From Ingram Micro

ACS, a $3 billion IT outsourcing company based in Dallas, will manage mainframe, major server, desktop and enterprise storage operations; WAN and LAN support and engineering; systems management services; internal associate help desk services; and worldwide voice/PBX for Ingram Micro, according to ACS. Ingram Micro will maintain internally its own IT strategy and architecture, worldwide application development, quality assurance and customer and partner programs.

"Contracting out our IT infrastructure gives us the best of both worlds," said Guy Abramo, executive vice president and chief strategy and information officer at Ingram Micro, in a statement. "We can take advantage of ACS' best practices, economies of scale and flexible capacity to achieve a lower cost structure and access their technology resources and expertise to manage a variety of technology platforms."

"Ingram Micro was very clear that they required a provider who had impeccable financial strength with world-class IT infrastructure--and a company that could efficiently administer the transfer of approximately 200 highly qualified Ingram Micro IT team members during the initial transition period," said Don Liedtke, ACS group president of IT Solutions, in a statement. "Their selection of ACS demonstrates our abilities and we appreciate their trust. We look forward to a long and successful business relationship."
