EDS Unveils Product Life-Cyle Management Solution

The solution is designed to help manufacturers "capture, share and manage the intellectual capital throughout their value chains," said Chuck Grindstaff, president of PLM products for EDS PLM Solutions, in a released statement.

Teamcenter 2.0, according to EDS, addresses the various aspects of product life-cycle management individually and collectively to achieve collaboration between modules and legacy systems. Solutions include requirement management, project/program management, product data management, product-centric collaboration and enterprise application integration.

EDS PLM Solutions was unveiled in early October 2001. The unit was formed from EDS' acquisitions of Unigraphics Solutions and Structural Dynamics Research, suppliers of product development, data-management and collaborative commerce software and services.

Jim Phelan, marketing director of EDS PLM Solutions, predicted at the time the unit would generate pull-through revenue of about $1 billion, primarily from software solutions. PLM Solutions is EDS' fifth line of business. The others are A.T. Kearney, Business Process Management, E Solutions and Information Solutions.
