Burton Leaves Oracle For Veritas

Jeremy Burton, a top Oracle marketing executive, is leaving the database giant for Veritas Software, Oracle confirmed Tuesday evening.

Burton, who was senior vice president of marketing for Oracle, Redwood Shores, Calif., will become chief marketing officer for Veritas, a storage software giant and close Oracle ally, an Oracle spokeswoman confirmed.

His last day will be Friday. Some of his duties will be assumed by Jim Finn, vice president of worldwide communications for Oracle, the company said.

Mark Jarvis remains the top marketing executive at the database company, which has seen a raft of executive departures in the past year.

Scott Hanham, vice president of e-commerce application development, left late last year, as did Jay Nussbaum, an executive vice president of North American sales.

Other former Oracle executives include Tom Siebel, chairman and CEO of Siebel Systems, Craig Conrad, chairman and CEO of PeopleSoft, and Ray Lane, fomrerly a strong No. 2 at Oracle who left two years ago for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. And, Veritas CEO Gary Bloom, who whisked Burton away, is a former Oracle executive vice president.
