Under the name Affinity Internet, the combined company has more than 275,000 hosted Web sites and 100,000 customers, according the companies.

Tomas Mikaelsson, former president and COO of CyberGate, becomes CEO of the new company. Jim Collins, former CEO of Affinity, becomes COO.

The combined company offers a suite of managed hosting services to the SMB market and works with 1,800 solution providers. About 70 percent of its sales were generated from the channel, pre-merger the companies said.

CyberGate also has a channel program in which it allows partners to private-label its services. The program includes discounted hosting, free account setup, and an anonymous DNS that cannot be linked to CyberGate.

The company plans to continue catering to the SMB market.
