Loudcloud Offers Lower-Cost A La Carte Managed Services

Managed Services 3.0 starts at less than $10,000 for basic services.The services are split up into three categories: deployment and launch services, application and infrastructure services, and client services.

Frank Chen, director of products and services at Loudcloud, said enterprise customers wanted to start off hosting smaller projects with the MSP, and that led to the a la carte services approach.

"In the last few months, enterprise customers said they didn't want to start off with, say, fully managed disaster recovery, but rather one Web site or one application," said Chen.

On average, 65 percent of Loudcloud customers start off small with the MSP and add to their outsourcing agreements over time, he said.

Customers can tap Loudcloud to build their Web sites and their e-business infrastructures, and then integrate and test the customer's applications and e-business environment under the deployment and launch services. The customer also has the option of working with Loudcloud in just one of these areas.

The same holds true for the other services. The application and infrastructure services range from basic server and network management to the management of the customer's entire e-business infrastructure.

Loudcloud works with several solution providers on the design side, including ATG, Accenture and Netegrity.

Client services are designed to augment a customer's IT monitoring staff and are available at standard, advanced or premium levels.
