Qwest Targets Enterprise With Nortel, Unveils New Business Unit

Qwest's IP VPN solution now includes Nortel's Contivity VPN solutions. In addition, the carrier's Campus Optical Network Solutions include Nortel's family of OPTera Metro 3000 SONET solutions, and the company's IP Telephony Solutions support convergence with managed voice services and VOIP extensions for Nortel Norstar, Meridian PBX and Business Communications Manager products.

In addition, Qwest plans to combine its installation maintenance and managed network services with Nortel Passport as part of a managed LAN offering.

Also this week, Qwest combined several of its service offerings to form Qwest Solutions, a unit designed to migrate customers from legacy systems to IP and Web-based systems.

The unit combines Qwest's business applications, computing solutions, contact center, enterprise networking, security and telephony and convergence solutions.

Qwest's new alliance with Nortel will play into the new business unit and expand its distribution channels, said Qwest.
