Sun Adds CGE&Y To List of Global Solutions Alliance Partners

Sun Microsystems

Cap Gemini Ernst and Young (CGE&Y) is the latest systems integrator to sign on as a Sun global solutions alliance partner, Sun said. The two companies, which have worked together for 12 years, have built solutions targeting customer requirements for supply chain integration, including e-fulfillment, e-collaboration and sourcing, Sun executives said.

The solutions are available through Sun's Authorized iForce Ready Centers and CGE&Y Accelerated Solutions Environment, Sun said.

In the past year, Sun has been launching global solutions alliances with major systems integrators, including Accenture, Deloitte Consulting, EDS, KPMG Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers, as part of its plan to combine its own Sun Professional Services with the expertise of its partners.

All of the alliances target areas in which the systems integrator has expertise, Sun said. For example, the deal between KPMG and Sun provides joint ERP and managed services solutions because KPMG is strong in those vertical areas.

In other news this week, Sun also launched a new partner and customer program to provide factory installation of Sun ONE and complementary third-party software on preconfigured Sun hardware. The new Sun Customer Ready Systems (CRS) program, which is being offered worldwide, is similar to the Sun Floor Tile Ready (FTR) program launched last October, which offers factory integration of Sun hardware.
