Monych Leaving Tech Data For Personal Reasons

Monych joined Tech Data in September 2000 from GE Access, where he was CEO of the Sun Microsystems distributor. He is leaving for personal reasons, Raymund said.

The four regional senior vice presidents who reported to Monych now will report to Nestor Cano, president of worldwide operations, according to Raymund. The four U.S. senior vice presidents will report to Cano at least for the next few quarters while Tech Data looks to hire a replacement for Monych, Raymund said.

"It's well within the realm of manageability," Raymund said. "The four who will report to Nestor have an average tenure of eight to nine years. It's pretty much the same story with the other executives that report to Cano in Europe and Latin America. We're a large company with over 8,000 associates. From time to time you see a change like this, particularly in a marketplace like this."

Monych is the second senior executive at Tech Data to resign in as many weeks. Tim Curran, formerly senior vice president of U.S. sales, stepped down earlier this month. In a companywide e-mail, Cano said Curran would leave at the end of August to spend more time with his family.

"The departures were coincidental. Our U.S. performance was better than it has been in in some time. We do have an extremely strong team in the U.S.," Raymund said during a conference call with analysts. "We have a new senior vice president of sales, Terry Bazzone, who is a seasoned veteran with 10 years in corporate and another 10 years in the IT reseller space. I don't feel we have any gaping holes or any small ones in the U.S. management team."
