Tech Data Sales Chief to Step Down

Curran, who joined the Clearwater, Fla., distributor in April 1997, was responsible for driving sales at the company during its fastest growth period. Last year sales at Tech Data topped $20 billion, firmly establishing the company as the industry's second-largest wholesaler of IT goods.

Curran will be replaced by Tech Data insider Terry Bazzone, a 20-year industry veteran who is currently vice president and general manager of Tech Data's enterprise group.

As for Curran, who is leaving for personal reasons, his future remains unclear. An industry veteran, Curran spent 14 years at Panasonic before moving to Tech Data. An expert in international sales, Curran is fluent in Japanese and helped Tech Data establish strong ties to leading Japanese manufacturers and other Asian vendors. Furthermore, Curran was also instrumental is solidifying Tech Data's presence among value added-oriented solution providers.
