The enhanced capabilities go beyond the clickstream analysis already available with V6 by providing reports on activity by provider, channel, site and content type, among other things, according to Jeff Montgomery, senior product marketing manager at Vignette, Austin.

"It's gives you a much wider view of how content is used across multiple sites and portals," Montgomery said.

Since the release of V6, Vignette has marketed built-in analytics capacities as a differentiator of its software in the market.

Montgomery said the new capabilities are in response to customers' desire to squeeze more efficiency out of their Internet investments without having to acquire third-party analytics tools. "As we've moved into a cost-conscious world, reporting has become a much more integral part of managing your Web portals," he said.
