Sprint's FON Group Gets Third-Quarter Sales Boost

In the past few months, FON Group sales increased significantly, with more than 50 enterprise customers and wholesale account wins, the company said.

"When you take Sprint's balance sheet and its brand, coupled with the stark contrast of the travails of other carriers, it's only natural that that is going to result in increased sales [for Sprint, which we are seeing," said David Morken, president of master agent Bandwidth.com, Research Triangle Park, N.C.

Sprint expects full-year PCS Group revenue to be more than $12 billion, and EBITDA to be about $2.7 billion. That compares with an earlier EBITDA forecast of $2.9 billion.

Earlier in September, Sprint's Managed Channel Service Unit/Data Service Unit added managed frame relay and ATM services.

The services include proactive monitoring and resolution of circuit issues for Sprint frame relay and ATM sites. The service also offers customer notification and network-connectivity loss verification. A Web-based tool based on Visual Networks' WAN performance management system and the Visual UpTime platform allows customers to manage capacity and network performance and validate Sprint service-level agreements.
