Nortel Upgrades IP Telephony Line, New Exams On Tap

Nortel next month also plans to introduce IP Convergence, a new core technology exam required to achieve Nortel's Enterprise VoIP Design and Support Expert certifications.

"We find that one of the things that's missing in the current industry is really a good knowledge of VoIP technology and what it means, so a voice guy understands the IP side

Release 2.0 of Nortel's Succession Communication Server for Enterprise (CSE) 1000 IP-PBX supports up to 1,000 users per server, up from 640 users per server in the previous release. The upgrade also now enables multiple Succession CSE 1000s to be networked to support and centrally manage up to 10,000 users, and it adds improved backup and survivability features plus support for Nortel's digital and i2002 IP phones.

Succession CSE 1000 Release 2.0 costs $625 to $800 per line. CallPilot Release 2.0 starts at $400 per user. Both are available now.
