Intel Rolls Out 2.53GHz P4

In addition to the P4 at 2.53GHz, Intel said it will start shipping P4 chips at 2.4GHz and 2.26GHz that will include the new system bus. The Santa Clara, Calif.-based chip maker will also make available a new, 850E chipset that will operate at the new system bus speed, according to the company.

The P4 at 2.53GHz is priced at $637; the 2.4GHz at $562; and the 2.26GHz at $423. All prices are based on 1,000-unit quantities, Intel said.

The 850E chipset is priced at $37 in 1,000-unit quantities.

Earlier this month, Intel executives told Wall Street analysts the company was still on target to hit its 3.0GHz milestone late in 2002.
