MOCA Division Offers McAfee Online Managed Security Services

The agreement allows the solution providers to offer managed security services to their customers without making investments in equipment, software and maintenance.

El Segundo-based MOCA, a Sun Microsystems-focused division of Arrow Electronics, is offering McAfee's VirusScan ASaP, VirusScan Managed Service Upgrade and Managed Virus Defense. The services are managed via the Internet, said Rich Severa, president of MOCA.

"From small startups to large corporations, protecting valuable internal data from dangerous viruses is of the utmost importance," Severa said in a statement. "But it can also be costly, time-consuming and a managerial nightmare to implement.

"McAfee's VirusScan ASaP managed security services are the perfect answer to one of today's toughest business problems and an additional margin opportunity for MOCA's resellers," he said.

VirusScan ASaP provides automatic data file updates that allow users to focus on day-to-day operations, MOCA executives said.

McAfee products have detected and cleaned more than 60 million infected files, according to Santa Clara, Calif.-based Network Associates.

"The biggest cost for end users when protecting desktops across their enterprise from viruses is managing and updating the software," said Michael Menegay, senior vice president of North America channels for Network Associates, in a statement. "That is why we continue to deliver on our commitment to provide the maximum level of automatic virus protection and network security to our customers without the traditional required end-user management."
