CA Names New Channel Chief

CA, based here, appointed George Kafkarkou as senior vice president of channel operations. Kafkarkou formerly served as CA's general manager for indirect sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He reports to Gary Quinn, CA's executive vice president of sales and field operations.

On Friday, CA disclosed the departure of Mark Milford, senior vice president and general manager of North American sales. Milford had spearheaded the April launch of CA's channel-preferred sales model, a plan that compensates CA's direct-sales force more for sales that go through channel partners than for sales made directly to customers.

CA has pledged to apply the new model to other business units, such as its eTrust security and AllFusion Erwin data modeling lines, but it has yet to do so in the United States. On Tuesday, the company reiterated those plans in a statement, saying that Kafkarkou had successfully extended the strategy to CA's eTrust and AllFusion Erwin product lines in Europe.

Chris Devlin, formerly CA's senior vice president for storage in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will replace Kafkarkou in Europe.
