SeeBeyond, Siebel To Ink OEM Deal

The move might serve to quiet critics who believe there will be consolidation among EAI vendors and who say SeeBeyond is a likely acquisition target, observers said. According to Giga Information Group forecasts, SeeBeyond had about 8 percent of EAI software market share in 2001, behind IBM with 23 percent share, TIBCO with 12 percent share, and webMethods with about 9 percent share.

Under the deal, Redwood Shores-based SeeBeyond is slated to become the preferred solution provider and integration platform developer for Siebel call center and ERM software. Plans also call for Siebel, San Mateo, Calif., to embed, license and sell SeeBeyond's eGate Integrator, eway Intelligent Adapters and eInsight Business Process Manager for its call center and ERM solutions, company executives said.

The SeeBeyond-Siebel solution is slated to be branded Real-Time Integration Solution for Siebel Call Center and Siebel ERM and become available next month, according to the companies. In addition, SeeBeyond and Siebel plan to co-develop projects to create vertical industry solutions and implement Siebel's Universal Application Network (UAN).

Siebel introduced the UAN in April as a prebuilt integration platform to connect its software to other vendors' applications, and the software company tapped EAI vendors such as SeeBeyond, Tibco, IBM and WebMethods to support UAN in its products. Since then, Siebel also inked a deal with Microsoft, which will support UAN in its BizTalk Server integration product.
