Vieo Raises $15 Million In VC Funding, In Talks With Channel

Vieo plans to use half the funds to develop its direct and indirect sales and marketing efforts, said Steve Harriman, vice president of marketing at Vieo, Austin, Texas. The other half will be used for packaging, certification, production and other areas necessary to bring its forthcoming network appliance to market.

Rho Ventures led the investment, which also included original investors Audax Group, Eyes of Texas Partners, Flagship Ventures and TL Ventures.

The vendor currently is in early channel partner discussions with solution providers and OEMs, Harriman said.

"Any channel partner is going to want to see a production-quality product, so we expect we'll ramp up signing channel partners in the second half of the year," he said.

Scheduled for beta testing at the end of this quarter, Vieo's appliance will carry an as-yet-undetermined brand name when it is launched this summer, Harriman said.

The appliance, known for now as the Adaptive Application Infrastructure Management (AAIM) product, manages network infrastructure according to the applications it supports.

Vieo has signed up four customers to beta-test the product, Harriman said.

The company plans to publicly demonstrate its appliance at the Demo 2003 conference next month in Scottsdale, Ariz.
