Vivato Signs Wi-Fi Switch Reseller Deal With Japanese Distributor

In announcing the partnership, Ken Bib, co-founder and CEO of Vivato, said Japan's rapid proliferation of wireless applications makes it an important, strategic market for Vivato, San Francisco.

As part of the agreement, Mitsui's role would include distribution of marketing materials, presales customer development, product demonstrations, follow-up and support, according to information released by Vivato.

Vivato and Mitsui would also work together to secure approvals from Japanese regulatory authorities for Vivato's technology, and Vivato would provide Mitsui with the necessary technical and sales support, according to the companies.

Marketing efforts are expected to focus on the telecommunications industry, utility companies and systems integrators for commercial buildings. Vivato's 2.4GHz Wi-Fi switches, which combine Wi-Fi with a planar phased-array antenna and Gigabit Ethernet switching, are expected to ship to customers in Japan in the third quarter of 2003.
