Toshiba Channel Architect Leaves The Company

Keller left the company Friday to pursue other interests, said Terry Cronin, director of customer marketing for Toshiba's Computer Systems Group.

While Rod was very channel-focused, the team that is currently in place is as much ore more channel-focused than we were before,? Cronin said, during an interview at the CMP XChange conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

No further details were available about Keller's departure. He had reported directly to Toshiba America Information Systems President Hidejiro Shimomitsu. Cronin said Mark Simon will take over Keller's responsibilities until a permanent replacement is named.

Keller, a longtime Toshiba executive, helped re-launch Toshiba's new Preferred Partner Program on July 7. Keller was also instrumental in the company's decision to move out of the desktop space to focus on notebooks and handheld systems.

Since the program launch, Toshiba executives have met with more than 300 solution providers in a road show to promote its new strategy, Cronin said. Feedback on the program, which includes "pay for performance" incentives, monthly rebates, financing and a reseller service offering, has been met with positive response so far, Cronin said.

Late next month and again in early October, Toshiba will also begin rolling out new notebook models and PDAs, Cronin said. Details on those products were not immediately available.
