Stellent Unifies Platform, Enhances Imaging And Records Management Features

The company's strength has been in rapid deployment, and the release of Stellent 7.0 will enhance that strength, said Dan Ryan, executive vice president of marketing and business development at Stellent, Eden Praire, Minn.

"We have the only application that can turn all these functions on on the same server and has common APIs," Ryan said.

The modules cover Web content, collaboration, records, digitial asset and document management. The new release includes significant enhancements to the document and records management modules, he said.

The document management repository can now be optimized to work with a large number of small files to accomodate applications requiring high-volume document scanning. "We can now store a high volume of items, whereas before the orientation was toward Web site delivery," he said.

In line with that enhancment, Stellent also upgraded its records management module so that it can now handle document and record management in a single repository. Stellent expects its records management offering to be certified on the latest Department of Defense and British standards in the first quarter.

With the release, Stellent is also introducing a simplified pricing model. Customers will be charged $50,000 per server plus $1,000 per contributor. Each of the five add-on modules range in price from $25,000 to $50,000.

"It gives customers real flexiblity to build the applications the way they want," Ryan said.

Ryan said he expects that average deal sizes--about $150,000 last quarter--will remain about the same under the new structure. "It's not a price reduction," he said.
